DAFVIS CASEWORKER
Domestic and Family Violence Intervention Service(DAFVIS) provides support to victims of domestic violence as part of the Domestic Violence Intervention Court Model in Campbelltown. The DAFVIS only accepts referrals from the two Local Area Commands and all clients are victims of a domestic violence criminal offence that will be prosecuted at Campbelltown Local Court. Clients are both male and female, children and adults.
The Caseworker's role is to contact clients referred to them by the Intake Worker, to assess safety and risk of harm for the client and any accompanying children, and develop a Case Plan with short-term goals based on the identified needs. Caseworkers must be competent in assessment and case planning and be experienced in working with clients towards short-term goals. The Caseworker will support the Client in working towards their goals, support the client through the criminal justice process, and assist the client with appropriate referrals to other agencies. Clients will be engaged with the service for approximately eight to fourteen weeks. All DAFVIS staff are required to have the capacity for electronic file management.
The Caseworker will work as an integral part of the DAFVIS team, attending Court each Tuesday on Apprehended Domestic Violence list day, participating in Team Meetings, and wider networking responsibilities. Caseworkers are provided with regular supervision by the Program Coordinator, and external Team supervision.
The DAFVIS Team is also involved in capacity building in the wider community, particularly in relation to the under-reporting of domestic violence in the Aboriginal and Pacific Islander communities.
